Confessional Poem

When you were 16 your life was easy and carefree,

When I was 16 I had a baby.

You dealt with proms, dances and drinking,

I dealt with diaper rash, bottles and binkys.

Life was tough but I was never alone

My mom and sister were living with me at home.

That baby is now turning twenty-one

He is becoming a man but my job is not done.

I will be his mother forever

Helping him out when he’s under the weather.

On his side I will always be

And no one can ever take that away from me.

Life

(a surrealist poem)

The color of music coming

from the depths of the ocean.

The sound of purple rainbows

after a long night of sunshine.

The taste of onions

squishing through your toes.

The feel of thunder

under your bed.

The smell of penguins

in the morning after a hard days work.

The laughter of a sandwich

driving down the highway.

Protest Lyrics

What kind of world are we living in today

When children can’t go out to play

People wandering around with deranged minds

Exploiting kids for sex and money.

Down the street an old man looks

For children on websites and in dirty books

On videos he searches for

Children who have no clothes on.

Protect your kids from people like this

Keep them safe and full of bliss

Their innocence you don’t want to lose

Let them live the way they should

Because you only get to be a kid once.

I was born on the wrong side of the tracks.

I was born on the wrong side of the tracks.

My momma told me go to college and you won’t have to look back.

Go to college and get a degree.

Go to college and get a degree.

You can be anything you want to be.

I didn’t take her advice.

I didn’t take her advice.

Now college is going to cost me twice the price.

I’m so in debt I can’t see.

I’m so in debt I can’t see.

Cause all this tuition and fees are killing me.

It will all be worth it when I’m done.

It will all be worth it when I’m done.

But right now I am going out to have some fun

These are some lyrics I composed for my Poetry of Rock class. I hope you enjoy them.

Oh gee! I guess I will be weblogging again. My new English class called "Poetry of Rock" will be using these sites for creating lyrics and rock 'n' roll timelines and such. So you will be hearing more from me later.
